I was raised in an atmosphere of deep faith, which taught me to see in every icon not merely artistic craftsmanship but a gateway to the mysteries of the soul. For my family, religious imagery has always reflected eternal truths, serving as a guiding light on our spiritual journey. Pilgrimage became more than just tradition—it was a path to self-discovery through prayer and contemplation.
This profound connection to spiritual heritage inspired me to explore the works of the great masters of the past. The Ghent Altarpiece by Jan van Eyck, where human skill and divine inspiration merge in perfect harmony, serves as an enduring example of how art transcends time and invites reflection on life, faith, and our place in eternity.
Inspired by the masterpieces of Jan van Eyck, Hieronymus Bosch, and Rogier van der Weyden, I immerse myself in the rich symbolism of the medieval world, where every brushstroke and detail carries a deeper meaning. The triptych form, which I have chosen for my work, allows me to weave a multi-layered narrative that unfolds gradually, inviting viewers on a meditative journey through time and personal reflection.
Through my art, I strive to bridge the past and present, merging classical heritage with contemporary reality. I draw inspiration from timeless imagery—whether it be the tender maternal love in "The Madonna of Chancellor Rolin" or the dramatic descent captured in "The Fall of Icarus." Using vivid colours and intricate compositions, I seek to narrate a story of life's ups and downs, aspirations, and discoveries.
At the heart of my work stands the Tree of Life, a powerful symbol of growth, continuity, and inner strength. Its branches intertwine with personal memories, while its roots extend deep into tradition and faith, connecting generations and forming a strong foundation for the future.
My triptych is an autobiographical journey: the left panel symbolises childhood and dreams, the central panel explores the quest for identity, love, and motherhood, while the right panel represents new horizons, change, and hope. Each element within the composition carries symbolic meaning— the winding road signifies life's path, birds embody freedom and aspiration, clocks represent the fleeting nature of time, and the vast sea symbolises endless opportunities and the uncertainty of what lies ahead.
For me, art is not just a form of self-expression but a dialogue with the viewer. I believe that every sketch and every brushstroke is an opportunity to share my story, inviting others to reflect on their own journeys and discover beauty and meaning in every chapter of life.
